In Town Attacks....Coming Soon Random Speical Events?
After the Mursaats attack on Maguuma,I have but one question....Gaile will there be more random in town attacks coming soon? Randomly I bet especially when you log on. Really if it is a foreshadowing to Guild Wars 2 pointing to random in town raids that would be really nice though Guild Wars it has a portal to prevent monsters to come in or out. Events like these will most likely keep all of us Guild Wars fans on our feet's until GW2 comes out. Instead of worrying too much about GW 2 worry about monsters coming in town while you are shopping and raiding the town for 10 Minutes or so. ^,^ Please give us a answer Gaile

There were similar things during the beta's - IIRC Gwens rampaging and killing everyone was one of the "events". It's more sad that these things do not happen more often, but I suppose the devs time may be better spent elsewhere.

If we fight back we should then consider the towns explorable areas than outposts no more lol. Hey its not a a even that happens for 10 hours you know but something fun to enjoy and really see what people say in local chat......they say a lot of crazy stuff when these things happen *cough* twice *cough*

How "soon" do you expect it to happen? We've seen such thing since, when, WPE? And that's 2004.

That's not my point. I'm just saying these events would be much cooler if you were able to defend the attacked outpost.

Yea, really I dont mind how they do it but if WE do have the option to defend the town, they should have a main raid boss that if you kill and you get in the top 3 that did the most Damage on him/her you get a special item in your inventory. (From .Hack//Sign) To fell you at least accomplished something, they should also add a Town Defender Title you know or something like that. Also from what I found from others, people dont want this to happen often cause it will kill the new feel of the even really quick if they have it every week or so but every other month or 2 years is a little to much you know to wait for another to happen like this.

I agree, it should be a rare occassion. I don't think getting a reward would be appropriate, though. People should just participate for the benefit of having fun.

I doubt they'd make a system in which we could react and defend a town to monsters spawned inside of it they'd have to recode the towns and everything.. I think they will save any such feature for gw2

They will in GW2 because there will be no portals because everything is one server...except the 3 worlds. And if everything is one server, you might be in Lions Arch one day then a Minute latter a rampage of skale by the hundreds runs through the town b/c of migrating season or etc. and b/c A-net says one small trip can make a BIG event. One person might see a skale sniffing their mini looking it might eat it so he uses a bow then.......uh o u have all of them turn on everyone in town cause of that only one bow shot. Crazy aint it

No, because it wasn't a "Random special event" it was put in place because of the Mursaat rally organised by Quintus Antonius of GWO.
They wouldn't go to the trouble of making 'random' events with no purpose. Whats the point?

It was random cause no one knew it was going to happen, same with Gwen who knew besides A-net that it would of happened? Plus because of Guild Wars 2 two year wait A-Net has to come up with new features in the current games to keep us going until then so they will not lose players. Really adding a feature like this might let the time pass by a little you know than worrying about GW2.

A 40-page rally thread at GWO says it wasn't random.

As cool as it would be to have to assemble a team and defend LA against random waves of enemies at a really random time, it wouldn't happen. Each battle would have to be rolled into new builds, and I don't think people want to log out and log back in just so some people in a random town can fight against a dragon.

Not really lately A-net has been silk lately especially during the holiday events where you collected items and the event ends so u get rid of them and from out of no where without a build ant etc. NPC's appear out of no where to take the times you already threw away. Also I read through the GWO forums, I did not see posted where it says that "A-net get the Mursauts to raid our little rally sometime" It was a big gathering that A-Net wanted the GWO members to feel like they are being heard so they did an attack on the town.

Yes, precicely. It wasn't a 'random' event, it was for the rally. And people are already trying to get ANet to do it again:

So over the 2 years we just have to see. Even if they do add it, it will hold the Guild Wars players to GW than letting them get board and move on to WoW or Lord of the Rings Online cause of no new features in a 2 year range you know

I think this would be a fun idea, it wouldn't be so bad to have this happen at random
